Clerk to Governors

We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, reliable and experienced individual to work with and fully support our Governing Body. This is a critical role ensuring the smooth operation of the Governing Body. The role involves working collaboratively with the Chair of Governors, Head Teacher, Governing Body, school staff and Local Authority.

 

The post is a permanent, part-time position. The Clerk is expected to provide an average of 5 hours of support for the Governing Body per week, term time only, covering 4 Full Governing Body meetings (approx. 2 hrs each) and 3 committee meetings (approx.. 1 hr each) per academic year. Both Full Governing Body and committee meetings are held at varying times of the day, but other work can be done flexibly and from home.

 

Responsibilities include preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes, offering administrative support, keeping records and giving procedural and legislative advice to the Governing Body. Applicants must have:

  • The ability to maintain professional working relationships

  • Excellent organisation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, working with confidential information

  • The ability to take accurate minutes at meetings

  • Good IT skills, in particular with Microsoft Office

    Training to support the professional development of the successful applicant will be provided. Attendance at training sessions is included in the hours.

    Salary: £11.87 per hour, approximate annual salary of £2,255 per annum, based on actual hours worked.
